Stacie Naslund, Executive Director of Spring Ridge Park Assisted Living, is a dedicated volunteer with the Alzheimer’s Association. She teaches Effective Communication Strategies for families to help those with Alzheimer’s in Denver.
Communication is more than just talking and listening – it’s also about sending and receiving messages through attitude, tone of voice, facial expressions and body language. Families need new ways to connect with their loved one, as those with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias progress in their journey and the ability to use words is lost. Using the KISSS method (Keep It Slow, Soft and Simple) can be effective.
Listen to Stacie’s interview with 9News as she explains practical tips for communicating with those who have Alzheimer’s Disease.
